Item 1: (Standing Order) If you need to go before the promotion review board, or need a written test, or a Drill test, you must post here on the blog PRIOR to Wednesday, end of day (by or about 1700 hours), otherwise there will not be time to schedule these on Thursday night.
All cadets should post each week, to advise the unit command staff if they will be attending or not.
Item 2: The Colorado Cadet Leadership School starts in just a couple weeks. Details were posted last month here on our blog. If you think you might want to go, go back, check it out, but act fast.
Item 3: Please see the below message from Weber Minuteman Squadron for up coming activities. These are not yet confirmed, but if these are things you would like to do, let your chain of command know right away, so we can let WM know there is interest.
TO ALL SQUADRONS,
Weber Minuteman Squadron is thinking of planning two activities that we can invite other squadrons to. We would like to know your level of interest before proceeding. Aug. 10 the Ogden Astronomical Society is having a star gazing night on Antelope Island. They will have all their big telescopes out. We are going to attend by at least having a BBQ while we wait for dark and then star gaze, but we thought it might be fun to get a group camp site and just stay overnight. It's a great place for geocaching- hot- but fun. If there is enough interest we will reserve a group camp site. If not we will stick with the BBQ and star gazing only. In any case, all of you are invited to join us!
Second, we are planning a rocketry FTX the weekend of Sept. 21 in Wendover, using the c-huts and dining hall. Our plan is to build all 4 rockets, take the tests, launch, and get the patch and badge all in the same weekend. We've done it before and it turned out really well. I know many Cadets may already have their rocketry badge, but they may just want to come and build and launch rockets. This event we are going to do a little fundraising for to lower the cost, we hope, but we generally have to get money in advance for it, and it's around $60 each for the food, rockets, and badges. Hopefully we'll be right around that target number again. Do you have cadets who might be interested? If so, around how many?
Thanks for your input,
Alison Carlisi Weber Minuteman
See you all on Thursday, bring a friend, sibling, cousin, anyone you even suspect might be interested in being a part of what we do. Don't forget to invite adults you know well for senior member candidates. You can get a recruiting ribbon for cades and seniors who join.
Phoenix, you are SECOND TO NONE!
