Thursday, 20 June 2013-

NO MEETING-NO MEETING-NO MEETING

The Desert hawk Encampment will be in full swing, along with most of our unit, so there will be no meeting this Thursday. We will be back on 27 June for PT night.

In the meantime:

Item 1. Glider Flights:
              Some slots left! Flying 29 June, Saturday morning, 0700 hours at the Cedar Valley Airport. Uniform of the day will be PT gear (Squadron T shirt if you have one, or plain or military black T shirt). Bring water, lunch and sunscreen. If you want to go, you must;
1. be an active member with a CAPID number
2. be Safety current
3. Have viewed and passed the "Wing Runner Course" under on line courses at capmembers.com, or click here:  http://www.soaringsafety.org/school/wingrunner/toc.htm 

Item 2. Region Cadet Leadership School will be in Colorado Springs at the end of July. See last weeks' blog for details.

Item 3. There will be no boards or drill tests on PT night, but on line testing is always available. There have been a lot of passing scores lately, keep up the good work! Hit that testing hard while school is out.

Item 4.  Bring your friends, cousins, siblings, remember we are all recruiters.

1. Sign yourself and or your fellow cadet(s) here no later than 1700 hrs, Wednesday 12 June. If you need to have a promotion board, a written test or a drill test, you must post (or have another member post for you) right here before the weekly deadline.

4. See the announcement below for the Colorado Wing Cadet Leadership School;


Colorado Wing is hosting a summer Region Cadet Leadership School from 28 July to 3 August Vosler NCO Academy on Peterson AFB. 

Cadets apply using CAPF 31 available on the NHQ website. They will need parent and squadron commander's signatures. Additional RCLS documentation requirements will be emailed to the applicant once CAPF 31 is processed. 

The tuition is $100 per cadet and includes social events and banquet, and all RCLS materials & texts. Meals and lodging are NOT included. Meals will be at the on base dining facility and cost is estimated at $10 per day, cash only. Lodging will be provided by the Pikes Peak Lodging for $42 per day with a shared bathroom (same sex sharing will be arranged). A $50 deposit must accompany the application.

Transportation to and from Colorado Springs will be the cadet's responsibility. This, along with many other school items, is explained in the Student Information Guide that will be email to each applicant.

The AF style blue uniform will be the normal uniform of the day. A set of BDU uniforms is included in the packing list for leadership projects and emergency. Peterson AFB regulations require cadets to wear AF style outwear and not civilian coats.

Uniform of the Day: BDU

1. Need a written test? Need a board or a drill test? Be sure to log your request right here before Wednesday, 5 June, 1700 hrs.


2. Want to attend the encampment this summer? Act now! Get your applications signed immediately, you've only got 2 weeks, but you can still make it. Cost is $140.00 and the forms below. See Lt Mabey THIS THURSDAY with check/money and your forms FILLED OUT AND SIGNED. Some scholarships from the UTWG may be available. Speak with Lt Mabey about possible financial assistance.Encampment is 15 through 22 June at Wendover AFB, Wendover, Utah.

You have to be: (1)A member with a CAPID number. (2) SAFETY CURRENT, and (3) at least a C/Airman.

You need:
CAP Form 31- Application for Encampment or Special Activity (Photo is optional)
CAP Form 60- Contact Information (Both top and bottom are duplicated, fill in both)
CAP Form 9- Parental Release form

3. Call, text, write, tweet, e mail and or facebook your buddies, and potential recruits, invite them to the meeting this week! Remember you will earn a recruiting ribbon for two new members.
