Announcements for the week of 31 Oct through 4 Nov 2011:

If you have come down off your sugar rush, here's the latest-

1. NHQ is in a budget crisis right now, due to a congressional funding shortfall. There will be no O Flights, and few activities above the Squadron level for the time being. When the budget is eventually funded, everything will return to normal. Most of you don't need to worry about this, as our unit will press on as normal. Until the budget is funded however, books, manuals and other training materials will not be sent to new members, and uniforms will not be issued through the NHQ New Cadet Uniform Help Program.

2. DID YOU KNOW...if you have achieved the Goddard Award AND you have your model rocketry badge, you should place a single silver star device on your Goddard ribbon. See CAPM 39-1, Awards and Decorations.

3. When O Flights resume, all cadets should have viewed the Aircraft Ground Handling video, and have successfully passed the quiz which follows.
The video training is located on e services, after logging in, look in the left column, "CAP Utilities", and click on "Multimedia." Select "video courses" then select "view video" from the pull-down menu on the right under "video options".
Watch the video carefully, then take the quiz at the end. You should print, or save the certificate of completion when you have passed the quiz. I watched it last week, there are no trick questions, and the video was only a few minutes long. You can re start the video all you want, and you may download it if you would like.
If you want to fly, you need to take and pass the quiz. You only have to do it once. The results will be recorded by NHQ automatically, but bring in a copy of the certificate for your file, or keep it safe at home, just in case you ever need to prove you did it, so you won't have to do it again.

4: Forwarded message from Maj Jeager, Wing Cadet Programs:

Short notice request:

I need 4 cadets or senior members to travel with me to Mars on Saturday the 5th.
We will be painting the inside of the Mars research facility.

Departure will be at 0700 from the Wing building
Returning late on Saturday evening.

This is to render service to the Mars Desert Reserch Facility

-If you think you would like to assist, get your parent's ok, NOW, and e mail or call your chain of command. This is all the information we have at this time, if anyone would like to volunteer, we need to know ASAP and inform Maj Jeager. Plan for civilian dress, painting clothes, and bring food / water.

5: The Wing Cadet Competition is still scheduled for Sat, 3 Dec. We would encourage our squadron to turn out that day to support our color guard team, Cadets and Seniors. Uniform of the day for spectator Cadets is blues, the nicest you have. Seniors with blues may wear them, or your polo shirt and gray slacks, or business attire.

6: Our fund raising this year has begun. If you would like to sell vouchers for hockey tickets, you must have your parent's permission, and you may obtain vouchers from Lt Nielson. If you would like to do so, make a note when you sign in on the blog. This has been a good fund raiser for the unit in the past, and pays for good things when we have needed money. Lets all support our unit.
