Announcements and Information

UPDATES FOR THE WEEK OF 19 through 23 September:

!! ATTENTION COLOR GUARD:

Color Guard members or prospective members should arrive at the squadron building at 1800 hours this Thursday for practice.

Item 1: New Announcements from the Wing:

The Cadet Advisory Council NCO Academy has been canceled for the 24th of September. We, the council, have decided that more planning is needed to make it a more successful and meaningful event for the NCO's attending. Please watch for updates as we plan to re-schedule for November time.

New info from the Wing CAC for the Dining Out:

To all Senior Members and Cadets of Civil Air Patrol,
You are invited to the CAC Dining In and Dance
Place: Hall of Governors at the Utah State Capitol
When: October 15, 20011
Time: 1800-2200 (6:00-10:00pm)
Uniform: Semi – Formal Dress/Class A – AF Style Blues/Nice Dress
Cost: $30 With Pre Registration, $35 With Pre Registration, at the door.
There will be a Meet and Greet at starting at 1800 (6:00pm)
You must pre register with names attending to quiltitioner@aol.com and send your
money to:
Valerie at the Wing Bldg. 640 North 2360 West. Salt Lake City, Utah 84116.
If you would rather pay at the door, you must still pre register,
Registration is a must. If your name is not on the list you will not be allowed in.
Registrations must be in by September 30, 2011. We need to turn in the numbers by
October 3, 2011. So please send in your names as soon as possible.

Subject: Leading Edge Aviation Upcoming Events at South Valley

Hello CAP,
I am excited to announce the following events will be
hosted by Leading Edge Aviation.
September 20th - We will be continuing our monthly SLC
Dinner and Class at South Valley Regional Airport on the 3rd Tuesday
of each month. Dinner begins at 6:00 PM and the class begins at 7:00 PM.
We are pleased to announce the Salt Lake City Tower and
Approach Control will be discussing the surrounding airspace.
September 24th - We will be offering a complimentary Biannual -
Flight Review Ground School Prep Class. As a special Thank You
our very own flight instructors will be discussing and preparing you
on the information needed to pass a Flight Review successfully.
This class is free and highly recommended. The class will begin Saturday
morning 9:00 AM until 11:30 AM. Lunch will follow in the hangar.

October 1st- Join Leading Edge in Celebrating our Grand Opening
At South Valley Regional Airport. The event starts at 6:00 PM.
There will be a live band, Dinner, Dancing, Door prizes, etc.
Please RSVP to this special event. We will be serving steak, Chicken
and numerous side dishes for dinner.
We have some fun exciting events planned. Please RSVP for the classes
as space is limited. Please RSVP for the Grand Opening so we know
how many steaks to purchase.

Item 3: Attention Emergency Services:


All,

Carolyn Owens (Salt Lake Senior Squadron) has offered to teach a
combined
CPR/First Aid course in SLC at the wing hq building on
Saturday, Oct. 15, from 9 a.m. until about 3:30 p.m.

Carolyn (and her co-instructor) are certified instructors and this
event goes toward CAP first aid currency requirements for some
mission specialties. (They are volunteering their time and expertise.)

The cost for the course is $20 which covers the course book and
rental of the mannequins required.

There is a limit of 24 students. Confirmation happens when you send
your funds to Valerie Salt, wing administrator. Voice or email
reservations mean nothing. Payment of $20 per person to Utah CAP
reserves you a slot. First-come, first-served. Bring your own lunch.

When we receive 24 paid reservations, I'll let you know via this
discussion group. Questions? Please contact me. Depending on
response, we may see if Carolyn is willing to do another course.

Item 4: Squadron Floor Project:


UPDATE: The floor project has been cancelled. Thank you to those who had signed up, there may be other projects at the armory in the future.


Item 5: Academic shoulder cord award:


If you earned a 3.5 average or better, bring in your most recent report card and $13.00, and you will be authorized a cord to wear with your blues. You may continue to wear the cord in the Wing, as long as you maintain a 3.5 or better.


Item 6: National Commander:


The following is an excerpt from a letter from the Wing Commander, Col Wellman:

"I returned Sunday from several days in Louisville KY and the CAP's
National Board. The board members elected a new national commander,
Maj. Gen. Charles Carr, and a new vice commander, Brig. Gen. Joe
Vasquez. Gen. Carr had been serving as the national vice commander
and he replaces Maj. Gen. Amy Courter who had completed her
three-year term as national commander."

September 15th, 2011 Emergency Services Uniform of the Day - BDU's

Emergency Services will be the topic of the night.

Thank you to the three cadets who responded to the search this weekend.

Black Hats still available to wear with the BDU's at squadron activities.

Those of you who need uniform parts, Lt Forbes will be headed to Hill. Please bring sizes and money.

Those who have Blues hats please bring them so we can use them for sizing. Those who need to order a Blues hat, bring $13.00 to have one purchased for you at Hill Air Force Base.

Road Clean-up will be on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at 0800.

If you are going to the Dog FTX, have fun, be good, and be safe.
